The Designer
With a royal lineage of craftsmanship and love for traditional textiles, Suchita Pandey inherited a strong sense of fashion aesthetics. She has a deep underlying respect for Indian artistry, which led her to studying and being awarded a formal degree in fashion and textile design, thereby expanding her perspective on how to cultivate an aesthetic of her own.
Suchita Pandey is a citizen of the world, having lived across Europe and the Middle East for over two decades, yet she carries her love for traditional Indian workmanship in her heart. She creates pieces that are ambassadors of her culture, showcasing different forms of near-forgotten art including the 400-year-old Danka work of Udaipur, Gota Patti of Rajasthan, Zari Zardosi of Persia, Gujrati Ari from the Vedic era, and Dhaka’s famous Jamdani embroidery that was made popular during the Mughal era. These highly detailed forms of embroidery have been a part of a bridal trousseau for centuries and carried down as inherited treasures over generations.
